You can be a winning handicapper even if you have never bet a horse before and don’t know how to read the racing form. The horseracing system shown here is incredibly easy for you to use. Yet it will be profitable for anyone who has the discipline to stay with the system’s three simple rules. I’m going to teach you the rules, and then I will tell you why the system works and review its strong points and disadvantages.

Here are the 3 Rules
1. The race has to be a claiming race with the exception that it can’t be a maiden claiming race. The way to tell if the race is a claiming race is by looking in the race conditions in either the track program or the past performances.

2. Calculate each horse’s lifetime earnings per start. Just divide each horse’s lifetime earnings by its lifetime starts. Look for the horse’s lifetime earnings and starts in the top right corner of its past performance record.

3. Place a win bet on the horse that has the highest earning per start over its lifetime if his closing odds are greater than or equal to 8-to-1.

The Reasons Why this Handicapping System Works
Because the variability of genetics, all horses are not the same and they have different levels of ability. That is why there are different class levels in horseracing. If a horse is in good condition, he will win easily if he is dropped down to a lower class level.

Any horse that fits the profile of this system will certainly have been successful in higher class levels in the past. The horses selected by this system in general can’t be competitive at their former class level because they have suffered injuries. So they are used by the racing insiders as “betting tools.” The trainers keep these horses in the stable because it is very easy to darken their form. The trainer knows that if the horse can get back to its original competitive level even if it is only for one more race, it can be an easy winner against the lower class horses it will face in the race today. So because of manipulation by the trainer, the horses selected by this system do win and win suddenly without showing any signs of improvement. Also because of trainer manipulation, these horses will pay long shot odds.

The System’s Advantages and Disadvantages
This system is a huge money maker over an extended period of time and will usually return a profit of 20% to 30% for each dollar you wager. The weakest link of the system is the win percent. You should expect it to only average from ten to fourteen percent. This means that when you start using this system you should expect many losing streaks.

The number or size of losing streaks for any system is determined by the method’s percentage of wins. Let’s suppose as an example that your percentage of wins was around 14%, which is winning about one out of every seven bets. The expected largest losing streak for 1000 bets would be 34 losers in a row. You should also see around 27 strings of consecutive losers of at least 10 or more for each thousand wagers. This means you should expect to be in the midst of a consecutive losing streak of 10 or more approximately thirty seven percent of the time while using this method.

The percentage of winners is one of the most important factors to consider when evaluating any handicapping system. If you are looking for a horse racing system that has a higher percentage of winners than this method, please consider “The Indicator Handicapping Method” which is the featured handicapping method at my website, turfanalyst.com.
